About KGI’s Medical Device Engineering Program

Created in response to the needs of the medical device industry, our MSMDE program helps you chart your professional path to becoming an engineer. You’ll build a versatile, career-ready skill set that equips you to design medical diagnostics and instruments, assistive technology, and more. 

In this nine-month, full-time program, you grow through:

What You’ll Learn

The master’s in medical device engineering program prepares you to make a lasting impact on the healthcare field. Our 30-credit curriculum covers the essential areas of expertise for applying engineering skills to the specialized sector of medical devices.

During your two full-time semesters, you take a core set of small-section classes exploring topics such as medical diagnostics and medical devices, expanding the breadth of your understanding of industry tech. You also learn about the path of a product as it journeys from idea to commercialized device. To round out your education, you choose a series of specialized electives in regulatory affairs, product ideation, and others to tailor your expertise.

The list of application materials should include:

  • Personal statement

  • One letter of recommendation
  • Transcripts from all previously attended post-secondary institutions
  • English language proficiency (by interview or scores from TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo exam for international students)

Admitted students are required to submit a $400 non-refundable enrollment fee to hold their spot in the program.
